All plants are living things.

They can die, though. For example, if one cooks vegetables and/or fruits, it's very unlikely there are any living cells in them anymore. In general, as long as a plant/fruit is still living, it will spoil much more slowly than a dead vegetable or fruit. There are also other health benefits associated with consuming still living food.
