White tigers are not a different species of tiger. They are a mutation of existing tiger species, so they can't yet be classified as a subspecies. If a population of white tigers were found that consistently reproduced as white tigers, then they could be considered a subspecies. However, since tigers in the wild are rare in general, the likelihood of a white tiger subspecies developing is not good.
