A gas will generally condense before it freezes, becoming a liquid, and then turning to a solid. Freezing is merely a change of state from liquid to solid, so no, a gas cannot "freeze," but it can become a solid. It just generally becomes a liquid first. It can go straight from a gas to a solid, but this is not called freezing.
