They help the frog swim in ponds and hop onto Lily pads. Without its hind legs, a frog will surely die. By not being able to move to locations where it can find food.

Their toes are webbed, allowing them to swim effectively, but they have toes and sometimes claws which let them dig into the ground and push, allowing them to walk and jump on land.
