Remote Sensing and GIS help geographers see spatial patterns and relationships in the phenomena that they are looking at. For example, using GIS software, you might create a layer for GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and a layer for Population Density. Then, by comparing the two layers you can see if there are any relationships between the two. Remember, just because there is a correlation does not mean that one causes the other.
