UV radiation from the sun is just a subset of the total electromagnetic radiation, which includes the visible light that we see with our eyes. "UV" stands for "ultra violet". In other words, it's just another color in the rainbow -- except that it happens to be at a light frequency which humans do not see with their eyes. The mechanism of travel through space is the same for all frequencies of electromagnetic radiation.
