There are 2 types of "small numbers" you might need when typing chemistry: superscripts and subscripts/ Superscripts are used when writing the charge of an ion and subscripts are used when writing the number of each element in a chemical formula. (There are lots of other uses but these are just examples). The answer box on wikianswers won't let me type superscripts of subscripts, but in Microsoft Word there are two buttons underneath where you pick the font. They look like the letter x with a superscript or a subscript. Click on one and start typing. Then you can just copy or paste wherever you want.
