Use the law x^(p/q) = the "q"th root of x, all raised to the power of p. Also note that this is equivalent to the "q"th root of the expression x to the exponent p. For example, 8^(2/3) = the cube root of (8^2) or (the cube root of 8)^2. Both are equal to 4.
