In it's molecular form, heat is found in the vibrations of atoms in their positions in the states of matter. (the temperature of plasma is more complicated.) Molecules are made by the bonding of two or more atoms. Kinetic energy is released by the movement of the atoms, and this is what the measure of temperature is in it's most crude form.
