That depends, how long will your freeze work?

Ok, you were probably wanting to know how long you can safely freeze fish, then cook and eat it safely?

In that case, the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has some guidance, see Fresh and Frozen Seafood Selecting and Serving it Safely for general seafood guidance (like the fact that ice crystals may indicate a problem). When you cook it afterwards, make sure it gets to at least 145 °F hot. For safe storage in a freezer, they give different guidelines depending on the type of fish:

Lean fish 1 to 2 days 6 months
Fatty fish 1 to 2 days 2 to 3 months
Cooked fish 3 to 4 days 4 to 6 months
Smoked fish 14 days 2 months
Fresh shrimp, scallops, crawfish, squid 1 to 2 days 3 to 6 months
Canned seafood
Pantry, 5 years
