Let me know if you see the MW message alert - you should. Gil (talk)@Wikia 02:30, 30 January 2009 (UTC) 4 tildes works just fine here too

Yeah, for this I do, but this is not the Userboard. --◄mendel► 02:38, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for your edits here and for trying to help us work out where the bugs are. Angela@Wikia (talk) 04:11, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I've made you an admin here so you can get rid of the really bad questions that aren't ever going to be useful for someone searching for info. What do you think about signing questions? My thought was that it was better to not sign so that someone else can come along and improve the answer, like a regular wiki article, but I noticed you've been signing your answers. Angela@Wikia (talk) 07:01, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you. Well, you've added the full social features to the wiki, so I thought it'd encourage people to contact me when I sign my answers. It also helps drive home that some of them are quite subjective. --◄mendel► 07:08, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
Hi. We're looking into ways in the software to highlight who answered a questions rather than only who answered it, so please don't add signatures as it discourages other people from improving the answer. Thanks. Angela@Wikia (talk) 08:05, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

I removed mispellings from MediaWiki:Deletereason-dropdown. It's important to keep these as people are very often searching for those mispellings and it's a big driver of traffic to the wiki. Angela@Wikia (talk) 06:19, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Angela, what often happens on long questions that somebody will take 2 or 3 tries to get it right. I don't think these misspellings are likely to happen again, and the correctly spelled question is there to be answered. "Internegts". Instead "Fuck off" has been deleted for the third time, including my answer. --◄mendel► 06:27, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Please don't worry about adding answers to things that were never meant as questions (like fuck off). Eventually those will be cleaned up automatically. Angela@Wikia (talk) 06:30, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
You haven't even exmained the two articles that were deleted with my new reason (and I'd deleted some before where I could have used it), and the reason you're using to justify it makes no sense to me. --◄mendel► 06:35, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
What I'm saying is that there's no harm in having redirects. Simply being a misspelling isn't a reason for deletion. Angela@Wikia (talk) 06:43, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Did you see my request above to stop signing answers? It's preventing collaboration which goes against the aims of this site. Angela@Wikia (talk) 02:59, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

demotion Edit

First Angela tells me to not delete misspelled questions and then berates me for not using admin tools. Oh, and thanks for not telling me about the demotion. --◄mendel► 11:43, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, well, as I said on IRC, both of you phail at being proactively trying to get your full position across in a clear way regarding the matters of this wiki, IMHO. -User:PanSola(history) you can contact me for page deletion/protection or vandal banning 19:19, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Rephrasing a question Edit

moved to User talk:Molokaicreeper#when rephrasing a question is a bad idea

Please stop moving pages. Page move vandalism is not the way to prove your point and you are just messing up page histories. The aim here is to have a useful set of questions and answers. Angela@Wikia (talk) 23:18, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
You are the one who is moving (and deleting) pages. I see two pages I moved, to their original names. I take objection to being called a "page move vandal". --◄mendel► 23:24, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
I think both of you need to make sure you get your priorities straight and consider what you do or say before attempting to get you points across. Before we make a heated argument, perhaps try to be proactive and resolve this using points and facts instead of names and actions :) Just settle it in a civil matter ;) ~Joey~ ^Talk^ 06:28, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
I realize now that asking the question "Why do editors change the meaning of the question when renaming it?" wasn't the best way to deal with this issue. Sorry. --◄mendel► 06:56, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
It's not the fact you asked it - it's the fact you moved an existing question to that title. Deletion is the only way to then fix the original title. I suggest that if you disagree with the goals of Wikianswers, you stop editing here instead of trying to prove some sort of point through page moves, and inappropriate personal questions about other Wikia users. Angela@Wikia (talk)
You're administrating by deletion again. What makes you decide these are "inappropriate questions", especially since the other "Wikia user" is an admin here (so he could delete them himself if he wanted), I've told him about them when I asked them, and he has replied to one? They are, in my opinion, appropriate for the category they were in, and the subject of the wiki that the category pertains to. The aim in asking them, besides getting to know Joeyaa better, was to get the Wikia widget on his wiki to display questions from that wiki; for this, a certain number of questions is needed.
I am not trying to prove points through page moves. If you don't object to the question, why didn't you answer it? Now I'm confused. --◄mendel► 02:22, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Addendum: I had answered the original question under the page title it was originally asked at. The "existing question" did not reflect the meaning of that original question at all and as such, was useless. --◄mendel► 00:52, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
When asking the question "Why do editors change the meaning of the question when renaming it" I thought it would help to have an example of that in the page history. Apparently you took that as being self-referential, though, and never realized what I meant (renaming "Ancient Kappa Shell" to a "Kappa Shell" question) until I rudely pointed you at it. --◄mendel► 01:25, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

User Block Edit

I suggest you stop questioning others abilities to make correct decisions. At least 10 questions that the user asked were deleted before the block, not only by me, but by other admins as well. These were among the questions he/she made:

   * What are the biggest boobs in the world
   * Why do men lick girls vaginas
   * Is good to have sex when your 10
   * Do girls think cock tastes good
   * Who has the hottsest boobs

Those among others, and he was also using an account in some of the questions. He was blocked (for 24 hours I shall mention) to prevent further vandalism and excessive confusion in the site. Imagine someone who has NEVER been to wikianswers coming in, and seeing a row of nothing but adult questions? Such is the case of my son, who just created an account. He is 13 and he was the one who saw the questions. He wasn't pleased with what he saw. Wikianswers belongs to Wikia, last I checked; Wikia is supposed to be a reference site, not a pornographic Q&A site for sexual orientation.

And you have absolutely no respect for your fellow Wikians questioning me like that. What's funny about this, is that those questions you mentioned were not erased, they still stand. Questions that were deleted were offensive, broke the rules, required a sense of opinion, or were too much to retain in a family oriented site.

I am beginning to wonder if you're actually following my edits on purpose. I hope not, because that would be harassment and that wouldn't be good.

Posting personal informationEdit

Hi, M.mendel.
I'm not aware of any specialized policy for the WikiAnswers on posting personal information. I think there are some guidelines on the Central Wikia. (I'll do a quick check to see if I can find them.) In general, if a spammer is dumb enough to post an e-address, it's likely the person would just get spammed back. I'm ok with that. On the other hand, I am concerned when I see what could be an inexperienced or young (say under legal age) person posting personal information. That person could be harmed. So in general, I try to discourage people from posting personally identifying information to a public forum, like here. -- CocoaZen 16:49, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

DPLEdit

Please do not use DPL on high traffic pages, like categories, as it can slow the site down. Angela@Wikia (talk) 09:30, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

I want to show all of our unanswered questions on the first page of the category. Can you suggest a way to do that without DPL? The DPL I was using is not doing any processing on the results, so it is basically running two simple database queries, which can be cached. --◄mendel► 09:33, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

For what it's worth Edit

I thought your comments on Fandy's page weren't completely inappropriate, even though he felt so. Then again, I have the privilege of not feeling as compelled to take part in this drama if I don't want to. -Howbizr 21:18, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! I've heard that from somebody else as well. I've offered to mediate between the two "sides", but that's about all I can do; until that is accepted, going further would be a waste of everyone's time, I think. --◄mendel► 21:30, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Family Guy Wiki question Edit

Here is the link to the question I mentioned: http://answers.wikia.com/wiki/What_is_teh_name_of_the_family_guy_episode_where_peter_griifin_farts_and_passes_out_wh

I hadn't really thought about deleting it because of someone possibly searching for it someday. --Buckimion 10:00, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
