Capitals Edit

Almost all capitals of countries are already present in the format "What is the capital of <country>". –koisuru (talk) 11:03, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the heads up! Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 11:04, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

You can either use their boards or talk to them via the user talk page, which you are using at the moment. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 22:38, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

New groups on WikianswersEdit

Hi The 888th Avatar. Administrators are now called Supervisors. Supervisors can rollback and delete but can not block users. There's also a new group called Managers that can block, protect, and make users into supervisors. Would you also like to be in this new managers group or would you prefer to be a supervisor only? Please let me know here Angela@Wikia (talk) 08:39, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Supervisor issues Edit

Hi there.

Sorry for bothering you, but I don't know of an official page to do this on, and you appear to be the Manager dealing with promotions and demotions.

I have to express a bit of concern over the promotion of AshleyJames. I've noticed Ashley using Delete tags declaring that a question is either unanswerable or already answered (both on the same question, not just the one which is appropriate). I've tried but failed to find duplicates of such questions, and I don't personally consider them impossible to answer at all.

I'm alarmed at the promotion of someone who prefers things to be simply deleted rather than trying to clean them up if that may be necessary.

I'd also like to remind you that "Deletion is not used for removing duplicate questions."

Thanks. A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 13:40, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your concern. I do agree with parts of your assessment, including excessive deletion. The decision that I made, I admit I made after a few thoughts. However, I still believe I made the right choice. Right here at Wikianswers now, we have a combination of these factors:
  • A very fast growth rate in the number of questions
  • A very fast growth rate in people who believe that can get away with vandalism questions or answers
  • A very slow growth rate in editors who stay on the project for more than a few weeks
  • Thus, a very slow growth rate in the number of people who can delete pages etc.
These factors are currently combining to make the project very unhealthy. A search of a few swear words, for instance, results in finding a plethora of answers containing such words.
I would not be as nearly as relaxed about the granting of user rights on other wikis. But here, I see it as a necessity, because we do have a large shortage of Supervisors. As Supervisors cannot block, protect, or edit the interface, I see no issue in giving people who are willing to do the job a chance. If we make our guidelines for supervision rights far too strict (at least at this stage of the project), it can be discouraging to new editors. I think it is far better to grant the rights, and then mentor them to use them correctly.
But as I said, your assessment has validity, and thus, I will be posting a few notes on AshleyJames' talk page. Thanks, Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 15:24, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

D: Since when did sysop become supervisor D: sysop ftw — Balistic 18:48, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

Sysop sounds better, doesn't it? More of a ring... (Technically, the sysop equivalent here these days is Manager...) Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 00:41, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

A very important edit of a huge scale needing to be done immediately Edit

...or not.

Please go here and change "an Supervisor" to "a Supervisor". Angela clearly copy / pasted and quickly changed Administrator to Supervisor.

Cheers. A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 13:10, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

Yet more edits of vast consequence requiring your attention, oh holy one. Edit

Hiya mate.

I'd be much obliged if you could pop over here and change "Junk Question" (We have spam, vandalism, inappropriate...) and replace it with "Unanswerable" as the way to go appears to be to only {{subst:red}} questions that will be repeatedly asked. While there is "Not a question", it's needed more than some may think.

Also, if you're not keen on that idea, would you replace "Not a question" with it instead, since they're so similar anyway?

Cheers for your time. A F K sig 2 A F K When Needed 14:08, February 17, 2010 (UTC) P.S. Yes - feel free to use real words instead if inspiration strikes you.

By the way, since I'm here, ban plz.

Hey AFK. I've made the replacement on the Deletereason-dropdown. For the guy who is making poor responses, I think it's best to tell him that such responses are not appropriate first. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 23:01, February 17, 2010 (UTC)

Mediawiki common jsEdit

What is this (Use dev AjaxRC script) you have added? What is its usefulness? Why have you added this? (Just asking)--Whiteguru 06:20, April 24, 2010 (UTC)Whiteguru

The change I made is in regard to the javascript used to automatically refresh Special:RecentChanges. Basically, I haven't changed any functionality for the site; what I've done is use a line importing that script from the Dev wiki instead of having it all written down here. The only difference on the surface is that this script uses the text "Automatically refresh" rather than "AUTO-REFRESH". The 888th Avatar (talk) 06:22, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

So you had to laugh Edit

Why do you have to laugh? I wrote that because of the Tagalog abuse --> Go fuck your mother in Tagalog, Your mother had a crap and that's how you became a baby in Tagalog. Something has to be done, and its going to be 1 year bans for such abuse. I don't see what's funny about gross disrespect for mothers and patent lack of respect for the dignity of the human person. Important Discussion about Bots in Wikianswers Edit

Hello 888th Avatar, as an admin of this wiki you have rights to give your opinion on a discussion regarding the use of bots in the wiki. Generally, the use of bots in Wikia is done in a separate user account after approval from the community. But recently, two admins were found to be running them from their main accounts without asking for permission. I believe that all admins in this wiki have the right to know what's happening in the wiki; and that their opinions are very valuable. At this point, a resolution has not been found, but perhaps with your help we can come to one. So, would you like to Join the Discussion? Thank you and you're very welcome! --Liliana (my talk). 07:50, January 31, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the note, I'm looking at the proposal now. :) The 888th Avatar (talk) 09:16, January 31, 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism in user pagesEdit

Hi! Most of you are already aware of the wave of vandalism in userpages we've been getting. I was thinking that perhaps protecting user pages (not talk pages) against unregistered users would be useful to keep them from vandalizing and moving them. I am thinking about sending a Special:Contact to take care of all of them. There really isn't any reason for an unregistered user to edit anyone's user page. I have raised a forum discussion here, for those who want to opt out. Please respond within a week if you disagree and you wont be included. Or you can always use your admin powers to unprotect your page in the future. I appreciate your understanding. --Liliana (my talk). 06:40, February 9, 2012 (UTC)

Hello! Just a quick one to let you know about this forum about bot edits from main accounts. This message is only being sent to those who showed interested in our Wikianswers bot thread. Thanks! --Liliana (my talk). 11:52, February 20, 2012 (UTC)

Your user rights on the Wiki (Important) Edit

Hello there The 888th Avatar. Due to the recent discussion on the forum which can be located here, it is the conclusion of the current Administration that you are eligible for your rights to be lapsed.

This means that your user rights will be removed until you are active again (or you will tell you will be active). Now, I want to ensure you that all you have to do is ask and active bureaucrat and the rights will be granted as soon as possible, we at Wikianswers sure hope that you come back sometime and continue to improve the Wiki.

If however you would like to keep your rights and not have them lapsed, this will be allowed if you are planning to return to the Wiki soon (or in the future). You can do this by leaving me a message on this Bureaucrats talkpage. If we do not get a reply within 1 week, the rights will be lapsed.

We hope you all the best if you however decide that you no longer want to partake in the Wikianswers network,

With the kindest regards,

- The Administration Team

Hello there, due to no response to the above message, a request is being sent to Wikia Staff to remove your bcrat status. We really hope to see you again on Wikianswers sometime and should you ever become active again, all you have to do is ask me and I will be more than happy to return your rights, thanks for all the work you have done for us here, FANMADE Rainbow Dash Upside Down343 TheGuiltyProphetFANMADE Rainbow Dash Cutie Mark 21:20, August 30, 2013 (UTC)
