The marimba is a musical instrument in the percussion family. It is closely related to the Xylophone as it has keys or bars (usually made of wood) that are are struck with mallets to produce musical tones.

Unlike the xylophone, the keys are arranged as those of a piano, with the natural notes lower and accidental notes above and further away from the player. Marimbas also have a wider range and typically have tubes (called "resonators") below the keys to enhance the sound.
