Air pollution is creating far too many effects for me to have time to explain properly on here. Put simply, different types of air pollution do different things. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane are causing suspected global warming, whereas sulphur and nitrate emissions cause acid rain. CFCs are damaging the ozone layer, allowing more UV rays from the Sun to penetrate this layer and potentially cause increased rates of skin cancer along with global warming (although ozone depletion has lessened in recent years). Major air pollution from (for example) car emissions in urban areas can be hazardous to human health.
