To get half of 1.25 cups, divide the amount by 2: 1.25 cups / 2 = 0.625 cups ^[1]

...half of 1 is 1/2 and half of 1/4 is 1/8, so 1/2 + 1/8 = 4/8 + 1/8 = 5/8 cup.
