The Canadian-American railroad executive, James Jerome Hill, was buried on his farm by the shore of Pleasant Lake when he died in 1916. His wife was buried next to him when she died in 1922. Both graves were later moved to Resurrection Cemetery in St. Paul to avoid vandalism.
