they have adapted to the life at sea because nothing really grows to sustain a substantial amount of life on the Artic floor. there is also a lush amount of food under the ice in the water, where there are huge amounts of nutrients for fish & other types of little creatures (like plankton, krill [mini-shrimp] and very small fish)
