Why is it important you don't panic when you see a bear?

Running away can trigger predatory instincts in grizzly bears. Black bears are rarely dangerous, but if they do attack you then you have to fight back intensely instead of panicking.

Also, panicking and picking up the mother bear's cub as a hostage is unlikely to work, as most bears have not seen the movie Aliens.
