The Greeks were people who loved the arts. My guess is that this passion was reflected in Art and Architecture. Also the greeks wanted to please the gods by building massive and beautiful temples, which helped them design the different orders. Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian (which wasn't used often. It was adopted by the Romans and used a lot).
